Before First Use
Wash with warm water and a soft sponge
Mild soap is safe for the first wash
Dry immediately using heat on the stove
First Seasoning (Important)
Apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the entire surface
Heat on medium flame until lightly smoking
Turn off heat and allow it to cool naturally
This creates the foundation for a natural non-stick surface.
How to Cook (First Few Uses)
Always preheat the pan before adding food
Use sufficient oil or fat
Start with simple foods like dosa, roti, vegetables, or eggs
Avoid acidic dishes (tomato, tamarind) initially
After Every Use
Clean with warm water and a soft brush
Do not soak in water
Dry immediately using heat
Apply a light oil wipe before storing
Things to Avoid
Prolonged soaking
Dishwasher use
Storing while wet
Cooking acidic food in early stages
Expecting instant non-stick results
Good to Know
Slight sticking at first is normal
Darkening of the surface is a good sign
Seasoning improves naturally with regular use
Rust or dullness can always be fixed
Cast iron is forgiving. Almost everything is reversible.
